About the 1951 Beano Book
1951 was the year Dennis the Menace first appeared in the weekly Beano comic, but he didn’t appear on the cover of the annual – that’s a privilege he had to wait for, and Gnasher wouldn’t show up until 1968!
The Beano Book 1951 stars Biffo the Bear on the cover. Comic characters featured inside include Busybody Bessie, Tick-Tock Tony and his young creator Jack. In Wee Jake and Sam Snake we learn the obscure story of a boy and his best friend … a pet snake. Like we said, Gnasher hadn’t been invented yet!
